Rail Disruption

Jonathan Djanogly’s statement on the rail disruption.

Jonathan said:
“In response to the many messages I have received from angry constituents regarding the current rail fiasco, I agree that the situation is totally unacceptable. More to the point this debacle was totally foreseeable, and it is shocking to see how Great Northern, Network Rail and the DfT are engaging in a pathetic game of buck-passing. Yesterday the Secretary of State announced an enquiry and the Transport Select Committee are conducting an urgent investigation as well.

“I met with Great Northern yesterday and I can assure my constituents that I spoke plainly with them. The current situation is that as from 5 June Great Northern says that there should be a stable timetable, i.e. commuters should be able to look at the timetable the night before and it should happen the day after. There does however continue to be a restricted service. The plan is to revert to the fuller May timetable in five to six weeks’ time. Naturally, I shall stay on the case and will also be meeting with the Secretary of State for Transport to make very clear to him the anger of local people.”
