In the debate on behaviour improvement in schools, held in the House of Commons last Friday, Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, attacked the Government for not doing enough to curtail unruly classroom behaviour.

Mr Djanogly said:

"Whilst the Government has been putting in place a variety of measures supposedly aimed at improving classroom behaviour, it is a commonly held view that their policy of reducing exclusions from schools has been a disaster.

Bad classroom behaviour has been increasing, teachers leaving schools for reasons of bad behaviour is increasing, and child crime is up.

It only takes one or two disruptive children in a class to ruin the lesson for all pupils. Effective discipline and respect are absolutely essential in school and the Government must act now to reverse the situation."
