Jonathan Djanogly and Ian Bates the Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council have today voiced their concern about the proposed alterations to the stacking zones at Luton Airport and the effect it may have on Huntingdonshire villages.

Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency and Ian Bates the Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council have today voiced their concern about the proposed alterations to the stacking zones at Luton Airport and the effect it may have on Huntingdonshire villages.

Mr Djanogly said,

'I have just heard of these proposals to alter the stacking zones at Luton and have concerns about how this will affect my constituency. It looks like aircraft will now be able to circle above Godmanchester, the Hemingfords, Hilton and part of St Neots while they wait to land at Luton. I am very concerned about the possible environmental impact in terms of both noise and pollution. I'm writing to the Department for Transport to make enquiries about the extent of what is involved and to liaise with other government departments and local representatives about the implications of this plan. I would be grateful to receive the views of my constituents on this important matter.'

Ian Bates added,

'Clearly this is a big development and the effect is potentially significant on the Huntingdonshire District. We will be seeking to work with the appropriate bodies and our local MP's in order to assess the situation and establish the facts about potential noise and number of planes that may be in Huntingdonshire's skies.'"
