THE House of Commons is to be asked to intervene to save Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly will speak in the House tomorrow night (Thursday) to introduce a petition to save the hospital's services signed by more than 55,000 people - about half the adult population of Huntingdonshire.
The petition was presented to 10 Downing Street on Monday. With Mr Djanogly, from left, were Shailesh Vara, MP for North West Cambridgeshire, county and district councillor, Steve Criswell, Cllr Geoffrey Harper, leader of Fenland District Council, Cllr Ian Bates, leader of Huntingdonshire District Council, Declan Flanagan, eye consultant at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and Mike Gough, branch secretary of Unison.
Mr Djanogly told The Hunts Post: "The sheer number of signatures is humbling. When you are an MP you make decisions on behalf of your constituents and this level of support gives you enormous confidence that you are tackling the issues you should be."
