Jonathan Djanogly Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency has hailed the Business and the Future of the Economy event that he hosted as a great success.

Mr Djanogly hosted a lunch at the Huntingdon Marriott attended by over 25 local businesses as well as representatives from regional and trade organisations including The Federation of Small Businesses, The Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, East of England Development Agency and Business Link.

Mr Djanogly said

'I was pleased to see such a good turnout with businessmen and women coming from many industries including manufacturing, construction, recruitment alongside many other small and medium sized enterprises.

'The event certainly gave me a good insight into the problems and concerns that businesses in Huntingdonshire have been facing during the economic downturn. I shall certainly take many of the examples back to Westminster with me as I continue to challenge the government on these important issues.

'It does seem that as a region, we have been coping relatively well during this difficult period and that is testament to the number of healthy businesses that we have locally. I was very grateful to receive comments from businesses, not only from a local perspective but also to identify the key issues for what I hope will be an incoming Conservative government in 2010'"
