25 January 2008: The Shadow Solicitor General seemed a good choice to perform the official opening ceremony at Huntingdon law firm Leeds Day's new offices in Brampton Road.
Godwin House, to which the firm has moved from a 17th century building in Market Hill, housed the County Court until it moved to the new combined justice centre on the ring road last autumn.
It was built on the site of the former Windover coach-building works, whose founder, Charles Windover, was Mayor of Huntingdon in 1885.
The company later built bodies for Rolls Royce chassis. Its founder's great-granddaughter, Jane Hutchinson, was guest of honour at the ceremony after Leeds Day was alerted to her existence by a Hunts Post review of her book about the firm and family last year.
While it fell to her to accept a bouquet of flowers, it fell to Huntingdon's MP and leading Opposition lawyer Jonathan Djanogly to cut the ceremonial ribbon. He and Mrs Hutchinson are pictured with Leeds Day's senior partner Bruce Elam, who's been at the firm since 1971.
Leeds Day was one of the first firms of solicitors in Cambridgeshire to achieve the Lexcel quality accreditation.
