Local MP welcomes recruitment of 230 new police officers in Cambridgeshire

Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, has today warmly welcomed the announcement that over 20,000 extra police officers have been recruited across the country since September 2019, including 230 in Cambridgeshire alone. This brings the total number of officers locally up to 1,756.

The announcement delivers on the 2019 Conservative Party manifesto pledge to put more officers onto the streets, and it builds on the Government’s Beating Crime Plan and the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act.

Commenting on the announcement, Jonathan said:

“From working with our local police force, I know just have valuable 230 more police officers will be in helping crack down on crime across Huntingdonshire.

“These recruits mean that there are now over 1,750 police officers in Cambridgeshire and more officers than ever before across the country, helping to pursue criminals and tackle anti-social behaviour.”
