Local MP welcomes new regional funding to help tackle NHS winter pressures

Jonathan Djanogly, MP for Huntingdon, has welcomed £2,907,000 of funding which has been newly allocated to the NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care Board.

It forms part of the Department of Health and Social Care’s £200m National Discharge Fund which seeks to help Integrated Care Boards across the country to reduce risk and increase patient safety, including through bolstering capacity in post-discharge care.

This was set out in a statement by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care last Monday [9 January] in the House of Commons, alongside an additional £50m of funding that has been provided for the creation of ‘modular units’ in NHS Trusts.

Commenting on the new funding, Jonathan said:

“At this time of significant pressure on the NHS it is vital that the Government is doing all it can to support both service delivery and patient safety.

“The allocation of over £2.9m to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care Board is a welcome step to this end, and it will make a tangible difference in healthcare settings across the county, including Hinchingbrooke Hospital.”
