Local MP welcomes new investment into grassroots sports facilities across Huntingdonshire

Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, has today welcomed over £11,000 of new investment which has been allocated to several sports clubs across Huntingdonshire.

This funding forms part of the latest allocation of the £300 million Multi-Sports Grassroot Facilities Programme, and the clubs which will benefit include St Neots Town Youth FC, Buckden Junior FC, Kimbolton Town Colts FC, Alconbury Colts FC and Fenstanton Football Club.

Through investment in grassroots sports facilities, the Programme seeks to encourage people to get active by participating in sport.

Commenting on the funding, Jonathan said:

“Grassroots facilities are crucial for nurturing sporting talent and encouraging people to get active on a regular basis.

“Taking part in sport can bring a range of physical and mental wellbeing benefits, and this new funding is therefore very welcome.

“I look forward to seeing it put to use at clubs across Huntingdonshire.”
