Local MP emphasises support for Ukrainians ahead of their Independence Day

Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, has shared the following message of support ahead of Ukraine’s Day of Independence:

“Tomorrow, 24 August, is Ukraine’s Independence Day.

This will mark 32 years since Ukrainians declared their independence from the Soviet Union. It is also the second Independence Day since Russia’s full-scale invasion.

It is a day to recognise the identity of Ukraine’s people, their strength and courage, and also our ongoing resolve to support them as long as it takes.

Since the invasion, I have had the honour of meeting many of those impacted. This includes numerous Ukrainians who have sought refuge in Huntingdonshire, as well as President Zelenskyy during my visit to Kyiv last year.

Only through continuing to #StandWithUkraine can we help to ensure the assault on their sovereignty, as well as Russia’s blatant attack on the post-1945 international order, fails.”
