In the year ending March 2007, Huntingdonshire experienced 1,043 separate incidents of fly-tipping costing the Council almost £60,000 to clear up. Nationally, local authorities in England have to deal with 2.6 million incidents of fly-tipping, representing a 5% increase on the previous year.

Jonathan Djanogly commented:

People must take responsibility for their own waste and if you see someone fly-tipping, tell them to take their rubbish with them."
