Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency has today voiced his relief that the Prime Minister has finally decided to call a General Election for Thursday 6th May. Mr Djanogly said; ‘I am delighted that the Prime Minister has finally decided to ask that Parliament be dissolved and I am looking forward to getting out on the campaign trail. ‘We are in a position where Government debt is increasing by £20 million a day, over one million violent crimes were committed last year and over five million people are on out of work benefits. We simply cannot go on like this. ‘The country cannot afford another five years of Gordon Brown. If you consider any key indicator of our lives and society and ask yourselves, are we better off under Labour. Are our borders safer? Is our economy stronger? Are our public services in better shape than in 1997? I truly believe that the answer to all these questions is no and that the only party that can improve Britain is the Conservatives. ‘We have a vision of a large society rather than a large state, we need to let people and businesses get on with their lives unfettered by needless regulation and I am hopeful that the British people also recognise the need to get rid of this introverted and self-centred administration. ‘The Liberal Democrats do not seem to grasp the difficult decisions that need to be made. We need to remember that a central plank of their economic policy five years ago was to join the Euro. Let us take a glance in the direction of Greece and thank ourselves that we did not vote Lib Dem last time round.’
