Jonathan Djanogly has today voiced his relief at the sentences passed down to seven members of the extremist group Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC).

Jonathan Djanogly Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency has today voiced his relief at the sentences passed down to seven members of the extremist group Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC).

The seven animal rights campaigners have been jailed after they subjected the employees of businesses linked to Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) to years of abuse, blackmail and bomb hoaxes. They were found guilty at Winchester Crown Court after a £3.5million two-year investigation into SHAC.

Mr Djanogly said,

"I share a huge sense of relief along with hundreds of my constituents who will be feeling much safer knowing that these violent extremists are behind bars. Many people have strong views on Life Sciences, but the way to protest is through peaceful and democratic methods, not through fear, violence and intimidation - which can never be allowed to succeed."
