Jonathan Djanogly, Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, has today reiterated his opposition to the planning application for a Wind Farm at Cotton Farm, near to St Neots (Application No. 0802296FUL). Huntingdonshire District Council’s Development and Control Panel is due to consider the application on Monday 16 November. Mr Djanogly said, ‘I made my position on this matter clear some months ago. I am in no way opposed to the concept of renewable energy and I believe it has an important role to play in ensuring a sustainable future for the United Kingdom. However, on this occasion, the proposed site is simply wrong as the environmental damage to the Ouse Valley Way would be considerable, given that the proposed turbines are to be some 127 metres in height, which is bigger than St Paul’s Cathedral or Big Ben. ‘HDC has already recommended that this application be withdrawn but N-Power has decided to press ahead regardless. I am hopeful that the application will now finally be settled and that we can all continue to enjoy the wonderful countryside.’
