Jonathan Djanogly has today questioned the decision of RWE N-Power to appeal the verdict reached by Huntingdonshire District Council’s Development and Control Panel to unanimously refuse the planning application for a Wind Farm at Cotton Farm, near to St Neots (Application No. 0802296FUL). Mr Djanogly said, ‘I am disappointed to learn that N-Power have decided to appeal the decision made in November by HDC’s Development and Control Panel, it shows little regard for local democracy. ‘My position continues to be that I support the use of renewable energy when it is placed correctly. For instance, I recently visited the McCain factory in Whittlesey where they have a number of turbines and I was impressed not only by their cost savings and positive environmental impact but also by the support they had from the local community. ‘However, I still believe that N-Power’s proposals to build turbines higher than St Paul’s Cathedral right in the middle of the beautiful Ouse Valley Way is not the right place for such a development and I shall continue to oppose the plans.’
