On 5 December 2001, Jonathan Djanogly, the Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, attended the award ceremony in London of the prize to Holywell cum Needingworth of Village of the Year for Eastern England and Home Counties category. The Prince of Wales presented the award to Michael Williamson, Colin Pearce and Sandra Mitcham representing the Parish.

Jonathan Djanogly said: "Holywell-cum-Needingworth richly deserve the recognition of their achievement given by this award. Although a lot of work was put in by the village in presenting themselves to the judges for this award, congratulations must also go to the village community as a whole, whose deep commitment to their local community life really shone through."
