Jonathan Djanogly congratulates NCS National Ambassador

4th November 2015

After taking part in National Citizen Service (NCS), Abigail Whitehead has been selected as one of just 100 young people across the country from the 80,000 that took part in 2015 to become a national ambassador for NCS.

Established in 2011 to create a more responsible, cohesive and engaged society, NCS is a three week programme that brings together 16 & 17 year olds from a range of backgrounds to face outdoor challenges, learn skills for life and work, extend their social networks and make their mark on their community – spending 30 hours delivering a volunteer project of their choice.

Abigail Whitehead, a pupil at Hinchingbrooke School, spent her half term taking part in an intensive residential leadership programme designed to provide these top teens with the opportunity to further develop their leadership potential, whilst giving them the skills, insight and ability to help encourage other teens to deliver positive change in the community through the power of social action.

As part of the week the young people also had the opportunity to meet local MP Jonathan Djanogly at the House of Commons.

Jonathan said, “I was delighted to meet Abigailat the reception and recognise what a tremendous achievement it is for her to become an NCS Leader.”
