MP welcomes flood defence scheme in Godmanchester

26th February 2014

Speaking in a debate on flooding, Jonathan Djanogly highlights the new £10 million flood defence scheme opening in Godmanchester on Thursday.

Mr Jonathan Djanogly (Huntingdon) (Con): Is not part of the problem with the Labour party’s argument that its Members talk in generalisations? In reality, a huge amount of good work has been going on across the country, not least in Godmanchester in my constituency, where tomorrow a £10 million new scheme will be opened to keep over 1,000 of my constituents safe from flooding.

Mr Pickles: My hon. Friend makes a very reasonable case. Indeed, we will be announcing a number of schemes that will help with that process. In fairness to the hon. Member for Garston and Halewood, she did pay tribute to the people who have done this work.
