Jonathan Djanogly welcomes A14 road scheme announcement
19th July 2012
Jonathan Djanogly, the Member of Parliament for the Huntingdon Constituency, has welcomed the announcement yesterday by the Department for Transport that a scheme for the A14, which will provide a new road, has been included in the Roads Programme.
The scheme will include a bypass to the south of Huntingdon and will be paid for through a mix of national, local and private sector funding.
Mr Djanogly said;
‘I am delighted that the A14 has been included in the Roads Programme and that, importantly, there will be a non-paying local road, which was a red line issue for me. This has been achieved by close working between local authorities, the Government and regional MP’s and this joint working will continue as the plans for the scheme are finalised.
‘I am concerned that construction is not due to start until 2018 and I have written to the Department for Transport, requesting a full explanation of the delay and pressing for work to start earlier.’
