Jonathan Djanogly MP welcomes fairer funding formula for schools announcement

26th June 2013

MP for the Huntingdon constituency Jonathan Djanogly has welcomed the announcement by Chancellor George Osborne today that a fairer funding system for Cambridgeshire’s schools will be in place for 2015-16.

Cambridgeshire is currently the worst funded authority in the country for school funding, an issue that, alongside County head teachers and MPs, Jonathan has raised at the very highest levels of government with the Prime Minister, the Chancellor and Education Ministers.

The Chancellor announced in his Spending Review today (June 26) that a national funding formula for schools would be in place for the year 2015-16.

Commenting, Jonathan Djanogly said:

‘I am delighted that our campaign for a fairer funding formula has been successful and that not only has the Chancellor agreed to implement a system of fairer funding for our schools but also that it will be in place for 2015-16. A positive future for Cambridgeshire’s schools has now been secured and along with my County colleagues I will continue to work to ensure that the details of the new funding formula are such that it delivers the very best for our schools.’
