Djanogly Urges Huntingdonshire to Shop Local

8th December 2009

Jonathan Djanogly has today welcomed the news that footfall is increasing in St Ives and Huntingdon following the publication of a survey conducted in the last week of October and first week of November.

Mr Djanogly said,

‘The results of the footfall survey clearly illustrate that our market towns are thriving. We have a unique mix of small independent traders with bigger retailers and this is obviously attractive to shoppers and I hope to see this trend continue past Christmas.

‘I have visited all of the major towns in the run up to Christmas, as I do all year, and I would urge everyone to do as much shopping locally as they can as the High Streets will see the benefits. It is a shame that St Neots’ footfall has decreased, but I am optimistic that this will reverse since the local economy seems to be coping well with the national downturn.’
