Djanogly – HLS violence must not be tolerated

27th October 2010

Jonathan Djanogly has praised the conviction of five animal rights protestors. The five, all members of Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty, have received custodial sentences ranging from 15 months and six years following a relentless campaign against companies and individuals connected to Huntingdon Life Sciences. The campaign involved posting hoax bombs to homes and offices, making threats of violence and daubing abusive graffiti on property.

Mr Djanogly said:
“The campaign run by these people against the workers at HLS went far above and beyond the moral boundaries of reasonable protest. I am pleased that the severity of their crimes has been recognised in the sentences passed and I hope that my constituents will now be able to continue their lawful business and home lives free from bullying and intimidation, which is totally unacceptable.”
