Bicton Wind Farm: Jonathan Djanogly sends message of support to the residents of Kimbolton

4th March 2015

Jonathan Djanogly sends message of support to the residents of Kimbolton regarding the decision to refuse the Bicton Wind Farm appeal.

Dear Kimbolton constituents and fellow campaigners,

Thank you for your message and for inviting me to your meeting. However, the House is sitting on Monday 2 March which means that I will unfortunately not be able to join you and other Kimbolton campaigners to celebrate this significant victory for local people and, dare I say, common sense.

Although the legalese and planning speak of the Inspector’s decision is not straightforward to understand, the basic decision is straightforward. Simply put, in heritage terms if nothing else, Bicton is the wrong place for a wind farm. Given all of the time, expense and angst that this application has caused, I really do now hope that this is the end of the matter. We shall see.

For my part, it was a clear cut case providing adequate grounds for me to ask the Secretary of State to call this matter in; which of course he did, with the following correct result.

Finally, I would just like to say how impressed I have been with the focus and determination that I have seen from local residents in this campaign. It has been my pleasure to work with you on this matter and for your magnificent efforts – I salute you!
